Initially the analog signal (voice) is converted to digital signals. After encoding the signal is compartmentalized into Internet protocol packets. This happens at the transmission end. At the receiving the reverse occurs, digital signals are converted back to analog signal to hear the original voice. In some cases analog telephone adapter can be linked to IP.
